FURTHER READING AND REFERENCES:

Beta Alanine is backed by research to show that it is a primary mechanism to increase athletic performance.(1) Beta alanine improves muscle endurance and power(2), and has been shown to aid increase in lean and mass muscle tissue.(3) Also the use of beta alanine has been shown to delay the onset of neuromuscular fatigue and the ventilatory threshold, that is the point in which lactic acid begins to kick in.(4) Beta alanine appears to act in a buffering capacity stemming from its ability to elevate muscle carnosine concentrations.(5) Above all, with the help of beta alanine instead of hitting 6 or 7 reps you’ll be smashing out 9 or 10.

Citrulline Malate is an essential pre-workout ingredient and it should fit into everyone’s pre-game routine. It has been clinically researched to enhance N.O. (Nitric Oxide) levels above arginine(6); increase muscle protein synthesis; buffer fatigue; enhance muscle endurance and increase the body’s ability to produce more energy.(7,8,9) Ignite features only clinically effective doses of citrulline malate so you know that each serving you are getting all the benefits of this unbelievable pre-workout ingredient.

Leucine is a bad @ss ingredient and we only use gram doses of this anabolic amino acid. Leucine has been shown to stimulate muscle protein synthesis (i.e. the muscle growth process). A study published recently further highlighted the importance of gram doses of leucine supplementation. The study found that 13 untrained men supplementing with leucine saw significantly higher gains (40.8%) in strength performance during a 12 week training program.(10) We are proud to be able to tell you that Ignite features the same gram doses of Leucine used in this clinical study.

Caffeine has an amazing ability to increase the mind muscle connection, provide razor sharp focus, boosts aerobic performance, reduce fatigue and even aid in weight loss through thermogenesis and fat oxidation.(11,12) A study published in the Journal of Strength & Conditioning Research in 2011 looked at 13 moderately trained males and the effect of caffeine supplementation on bench press performance to failure. The research concluded that participants supplementing with caffeine completed significantly more repetitions to failure and lifted considerably more weight.(13) Another study published in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism (IJSNEM) found that caffeine supplementation allowed 18 male athletes to increase their total weight with the chest press, and achieved greater peak power during the Wingate test, an anaerobic test used to measure peak anaerobic power, as well as anaerobic capacity.(14

Creatine provides max performance to athletes every time. It is one of the most researched driven sports nutrition supplements to exist. Countless studies have shown that creatine significantly increases lean muscle mass and strength gains and it does so safely.(15,16) A study done by the Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise journal looked at the effects of creatine on isometric bench-press performance. The double blind study concluded that for five days of creatine supplementation the resistance trained men increased body weight and fat-free body mass. The study also showed that the responders compared with the placebo group saw significantly greater peak force and total force during a repeated maximal isometric bench-press test.(17)

Niacin (or vitamin B3) is an essential B vitamin that can cause the user to experience a flushing effect characterized by a tingling sensation on the surface of the skin 10-25 minutes after consumption. Niacin facilities other b vitamins in metabolizing fats and converting carbohydrates into glucose to provide fuel for the body. Niacin has many other benefits including lowering cholesterol levels and the production of adrenal hormones (19, 20

Studies have shown that Taurine may increase muscle endurance by up to 50%. Its ability to buffer lactic acid in the muscle means greater intense bouts of exercise (21). Further by supplementing with taurine, subjects in a separate study were able to perform more reps on the bench press over the placebo group. Not only does taurine enhance muscular endurance but it has also been shown to help with fat burning. A study published in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism carried out by the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences found that well-trained cyclists that ingested just 1,660mgs of taurine had a “significant” 16% increase in fat oxidation during submaximal cycling. (22)

Vitamins A, B, C, D, E, and K are all important nutrients that can provide various benefits to the body, including before a workout. Here are some of the benefits of these vitamins in a pre-workout:

  1. Vitamin A: Vitamin A is important for maintaining healthy skin, vision, and immune function. It can also help support the growth and repair of muscles, which is important for a pre-workout.

  2. Vitamin B: The B vitamins are important for energy production, nerve function, and metabolism. They can help provide a boost of energy before a workout and support muscle function.

  3. Vitamin C: Vitamin C is important for immune function and can help reduce inflammation in the body. It can also help support the production of collagen, which is important for maintaining healthy joints and muscles.

  4. Vitamin D: Vitamin D is important for bone health and can help support muscle function. It can also help improve mood and cognitive function, which can be beneficial before a workout.

  5. Vitamin E: Vitamin E is an antioxidant that can help protect the body from oxidative stress. It can also help support immune function and improve blood flow, which can be beneficial before a workout.

  6. Vitamin K: Vitamin K is important for blood clotting and bone health. It can also help improve cardiovascular health and support muscle function.

Overall, these vitamins can provide various benefits before a workout, including improved energy, muscle function, immune function, and overall health and vitality.

I've been using Ignite for few weeks now and it's made a big difference. It gives me a great energy boost without the jitters or crash I've had from others. Love the flavour and mixes easily. Overall I'm loving it and will be trying the other flavours next.

Good flavour, good energy boost

I've tried a fair few pre-workout drinks, and this one definitely packs a punch. The blue raspberry flavour is pretty decent, not too artificial tasting. It gives me a good energy boost for my workouts without making me feel jittery or crash afterwards. I can't say I've noticed any massive muscle gains yet, but I'm feeling good and pushing myself harder in the gym.

T
The Fault
Packed with workout boosting nutrients

This is a comprehensive pre workout blend that combines a range of ingredients intended to help you get the most out of a workout. Contains caffeine that increases altertness as well as electrolytes and vitamins for maintaining high energy levels. These are quickly noticeable when consuming, without a crash afterwards if taken to recommended levels and not consumed with other sources of caffeine. Also contains 5mg of creatine monohydrate, which is an effective supplement when used over time, especially once you are at saturated levels. Once at saturation all you need is 3-5mg per day to keep at those levels, so this supplement supports maintaining creatine levels in body. You could use with a separate creatine monohydrate supplement for creatine loading if starting out but honestly I think it's worth sticking to the 5mg and you'll reach creatine saturation in the body after a few weeks anyway. The flavour for this supplement is nice too and easy to mix with water.
